SEATTLE, Wash. -- Evergreen Track and Field entered four athletes in Saturday's competitive Ken Shannon Invitational as the spring running season winds to a close. Evergreen runners have continued to post improved times as they gain experience in new events they hope will prepare them for fall's cross country season.

On the women's side, Rachel Williams and Liesl Plomski ran in the 1500 meters. Williams now stands as the 3rd fastest Geoduck on record in that event with a strong 5:22.39 in her 1500 debut. Williams and Plomski placed 18th and 19th respectively.

A hole in the Evergreen record books was also filled in the women's 400 meters as Plomski posted a 1:10.03 finishing 9th in that event.

In the men's 5,000 meters, James Hudson and Patrick Murphy are learning what it takes to be competitive in college track and field. Jumping into fast races is part of the learning process. James ran his best 5,000 meters of the season as the field set a hot pace, placing 18th in 16:24.58. Murphy followed in 24th with a time of 18:41.63.

Evergreen will finish the season next week as they enter a limited team in the Last Chance Meet at Willamette University on May 20th.
