Monica Heuer came to Evergreen prior to the 2001-02 season and has led the Geoduck women’s basketball program for ten seasons, having posted a career record of 83-208 leading the green and white. In addition to her duties as coach, Heuer also serves as assistant athletic director at Evergreen.

Heuer’s best year leading the Geoducks came in 2004-05 as the team played to a record of 16-14 overall and 10-8 in CCC games. In her career, she has led Evergreen to double-digits in the win column four times.

A graduate of Cal State University Hayward (now Cal State East Bay), Heuer began her coaching career in 1995, teaming up with her husband Mychael to found the women’s basketball program at Patten College in Oakland, Calif.

After two seasons, she moved to the NCAA Division I ranks, serving as an assistant at San Jose State. She followed her tenure with the Spartans with a two-year stint at University of San Fransisco before returning to Patten for the 1999-00 season, leading the Lions to a record 21-11 season.

Heuer, who also holds an M.A. in sports and fitness management from University of San Francisco, has extensive experience off the bench as well. She has worked as compliance coordinator and assistant to the commissioner of the California Collegiate Athletic Association, as well as athletic academic coordinator at Chabot College in Hayward, Calif.

Monica and her husband, Mychael, reside in Olympia with their son, Alexander.
