OLYMPIA, Wash. - Only two minutes into second half play, ESC's Mirza Memic (JR, Bellevue HS) sealed the game winning point over Northwest University to bring the Geoducks season record to 1-1-1. It would be the first team win of the Cascade Conference season.

It was a hard fought match between the Geoducks and the Eagles, with 18 and 23 fouls committed respectively in the game. ESC was a man down the second half after Marcelino Dumpit  (SR, Jackson HS) was given a red card only four minutes into the second period. Despite the player deficit, ESC held strong even with a stronger shooting game by NU in the half.

The Eagles were first on the scoreboard, when Brandon Screen found a hole in the Geoducks defense near the goal at the 6:00 mark.

Thirty minutes later Evergreen benefitted from a NU foul in the penalty box. Sophomore Corey Johnson (Mark Morris HS) found net, giving him his second goal of the season.

Memic's third goal of the season was off an assist by John Theofolis who's inside pass snuck by two defenders putting Memic in a one on one with NU's keeper Kyle Wall.

Both teams were well matched and have traditionally had close matches with each other. NU outshot ESC by one, taking 12 attempts in the game.

New Geoduck Casey Collins (Bishop Blanchett HS) took over in the keeper position the second half and made 3 saves. Nathan Salveson (SR, Foxboro, WI) had 2 in the opening 45:00.

Evergreen is at home next Saturday for a conference game with Corban College at 2 PM
