OLYMPIA, Wash. - Evergreen looked good in their season opener with UBC-Okanagan tonight, but allowed the Heat to tie up the game that was unable to go into overtime minutes due to darkness. The Geoducks, who were picked fourth in the Cascade Conference Pre-Season poll, will travel to Bellingham Tuesday night for a non-league game with Western Washington University.

Despite being stuck in traffic and late to the match, The Heat were the first on the board, scoring immediately after the game touch off as they took advantage of Evergreen's defensive holes.

Rosters were unavailable for UBC-O.

Ten minutes later Evergreen's athletic George Bundy (SO, Collins HS) found a hole to dribble through and scored unassisted.  Mirza Memic (JR. Bellevue, WA), the talented transfer from Whatcom CC, also scored unassisted in the 13th minute.

The Geoducks made the game a 3-1 match not long after, with newcomer Takahashi Matsuno (Japan) feeding a nice pass to '08 leading scorer Corey Johnson (SO, Mark Morris HS).

UBC-O closed within one point with a close range goal with 20 minutes still left in the first half.

With darkness falling the game went scoreless nearly 30 minutes into the second half before UBC scored in the 79th minute to tie the game.

Evergreen keeper Nate Salveson won the saves game with a total of 3 in the match.

After Tuesday's match ESC has a long break until the 12th of September.
