KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Shawn Farrow's goal 8 minutes into the second half counted as the game winning goal, helping Evergreen improve their conference record to 4-8. The Geoducks won 2-1 over the Oregon Tech Owls while Farrow tallied his 6th goal of the season.
Evergreen (4-8-0 Overall) outshot OIT (3-9-1) 19-11 in blustery conditions in Klamath Falls. The Geoducks also doubled the shots on goal of their opponents with 8.
James Pratt put ESC on the scoreboard first 12 minutes into the game when he broke through OIT's defense and dribbled the ball to center field for the clear shot from 20 feet out. It was Pratt's 2nd goal of the season.
Late in the first half Evergreen kept the pressure on the Owls and kept the ball on OIT's side of the field for much of the time. Evergreen took six corner kicks in two minutes.
Farrow nearly had his first goal of the game just before the halftime buzzer when his header was saved by OIT keeper Travis Bille.
The Evergreen Senior did get his header goal eventually when Matt Curry passed a high ball to Farrow. Farrow's shot bounced of OIT defender Logan Hurst and into the goal. Curry was given the assist on the goal.
OIT's goal happened not long into the second half when an Evergreen foul led to an indirect kick for Tech. Leo Keiser took the kick, but just touched the ball to Devin Torrey who booted a hard, low shot past ESC keeper Matt Stalnik and into the right side of the goal.
Stalnik saved 3 of 4 shots on goal and OIT's keeper Bille saved 6.
Evergreen hosts top conference team Concordia University (6-1 CCC) Tuesday in a 4 PM game.
