February 26, 2008

OLYMPIA, Wash. - Three transfers have signed to the men's soccer team beginning the fall school year.

Nathan Salveson of Superior, Wisconsin has three years as captain of his Superior High School team. He was League MVP as a Senior and twice named to the league All-Star Team.

Salveson has spent the past two seasons at South Puget Sound Community College where he was named the team MVP both seasons. He currently splits time with FK Pacific in the Pacific Coast Soccer League and the Tacoma Stars in the Premier Arena Soccer League. Nathan was the goalkeeper for the Tacoma Stars this past summer and guided them to the National Finals.

"Nathan brings a great physical presence to the Geoducks" Says head coach John Purtteman. Adding, "He has an incredible work ethic that will set a standard for the entire team".

Two brothers, Matt and Isaiah Herrera, will join Salveson during the 2008-09 school year.

Matt was the Pac-9 Co-MVP as a Junior at North Thurston High School in Olympia. Matt followed this performance by being named to the All State First Team as a Senior.

He has played two years at Pierce College where he was selected to the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges All Star team.

Isaiah Herrera also attended North Thurston High School and then played a year at South Puget Sound Community College where he was voted the teams Best Defensive Player.

He has been playing for FK Pacific in the Pacific Coast Soccer League for the last several years, a club that has a few Geoducks on the roster.

Purtteman compliments the brothers, "Both Matt and Isaiah are very composed players who can play any position on the field. Both brothers have a fantastic soccer IQ and will make an immediate impact on the team".
