OLYMPIA, Wash. - The men's team ended their 2007 season on a high note today with a 4-0 win over conference rival Corban College. Having tied Corban in double overtime in September, Evergreen was ready for a tough battle.

Senior Eduardo Millan played his final collegiate game today as the lone soon to be graduate on the squad. Commenting on the teams season Millan noted, "The season ended better than expected. We were ranked next to last in the conference (pre-season polls) and we moved up to fourth". It was the best conference placing for the Geoducks since 2005 when the team place 2nd. "This is a good team and if they keep this momentum into '08 they will be a great team. I hope I'm involved with the team in some way" added Millan, who would like to coach and work in sports medicine in the future.

Earning his eleventh goal of the season, Shawn Farrow opened up the game when he scored on a loose ball inside Corban's box two minutes in.

Eight minutes later it appeared for an instant that Corban tied the game after the ball went into the net off of Joshua Crain. Quickly shouts of, "hand ball!" went up from the Evergreen bench and a quick meeting by referee's indeed determined the score to be a hand ball and thus denied.

Jesse Wheelock scored on an assist from Millan around the twenty minute mark.

One of the most spectacular goals of the season was delivered by Wheelock. Taking aim from near corner kick range, Wheelock's curving, long shot neatly sailed by Corban defenders and keeper to find net. Wheelock promptly earned deity status by his teammates for the goal. It was Wheelock's seventh goal of the season.

In the end Corban was unable to match their early season play as their 2007 season also came to an end.

Freshman Josh Hacker scored his first game of the season at eighty minutes to finalize game scoring. Ryan Mulnick earned the assist on that play. Keeper Stephen Laughlin, filling in for an injured Matt Stalnik, earned the shutout win in his first full game. Laughlin kept goal the second half in yesterday's win over Northwest Christian.

Final conference standings will be announced after all games are completed this weekend and post-season conference honors will be announced in the coming week as well.
