October 18, 2007 OLYMPIA, Wash. – Riding the strong winds that knocked power out across town today, the Knights of Warner Pacific College (8-4 overall) blew into Olympia with Davor Lukic. Lukic caused a heap of trouble for the Geoducks today at Evergreen as the junior forward scored all of the points for his team in today’s win. The first goal for Lukic happened at thirty-nine minutes after no less than five attempts at scoring, including a dangerous, curving shot from thirty yards out that nicked the post. When he finally found net he made his way around defenders for an unassisted shot fifteen yards in front of the goal. Evergreen had a tougher time with shooting as they had just one shot (Jesse Wheelock) in the first forty-one minutes. There was a close header attempt by Shawn Farrow that was blocked before halftime. Within five minutes into the second half, Wheelock was able to take advantage of a nicely placed ball by Eduardo Millan to score his fourth goal of the season. Over the next ten minutes Evergreen had four shots, including two shots on goal saved by WPC keeper Clark Henarie. It seemed as the game had turned in their favor. Enter Lukic again. Lukic, who had subbed out briefly while the game was in Evergreen’s favor, scored four minutes after re-entering the game. Evergreen’s defense was way off mark, leaving Geoduck keeper Matt Stalnik with little chance in a one on one with Lukic. The final goal occurred following a cross pass by the Knights Chris Price, giving Lukic his tenth goal of the season. Evergreen plays Saturday in Portland, OR against Concordia University in an 11:00 AM game. The Geoducks stand at 5-9-1 overall and 4-6-1 in the Cascade Conference. |
