Team stands at 4th place in conference after yesterday's 5-0 win

October 10, 2007

PORTLAND, Ore. - The men's soccer team defeated Cascade College 5-0 in a conference match yesterday at Cascade (4-8-0 (4-6-0 CCC)). The conference win moves them up to 4th in the CCC and their overall record improves to 5-7-1.

Evergreen demonstrated that they have come together as a team. Since their first seasonal game against Cascade, in which they won 1-0, the team has gained momentum that hopefully will carry them on to post season play.

Jesse Wheelock scored first for Evergreen when he beat defenders and Cascade keeper to tap the ball in unassisted. It was Wheelock's second goal of the season.

Stephen Sharp, Wes Magyar, Shawn Farrow and Eduardo Millan were the other scorers in the game.

Marcelino Dumpit was credited with two assists in the wet and muddy game on Sharp's and Millan's goals. Sharp earned the assist on Magyar's point. Farrow scored his 6th goal of the season for the Geoducks.

Evergreen keeper Matt Stalnik saved all of Cascade's attempts at scoring.

Evergreen heads to play Albertson College in Idaho Saturday.
