September 29, 2007 EUGENE, Ore. - Two games in two days without a substitution make have taken it’s toll on the Northwest Christian College men’s soccer team as they fell to our Geoducks on Saturday evening, 5-0. Having fought with low numbers through most of the season, NCC was forced to start the game with just 10 players due to illness. Despite being shorthanded for the first 45 minutes, NCC allowed just two goals as they were out-shot 9-5. The Geoducks broke through in the 16th minute when a pass from Marcelino Dumpit left Eduardo Millan alone on a breakaway with no one between him and the keeper. His shot was drilled from ten-yards out, sailing deep into the middle of the net passed an outstretched keeper for the Beacons. The second goal came with just over a minute remaining in the first period when Cody Lofquist took a pass from Steven Sharp and drilled a ten-yard strike. NWC Midfielder Tucker Kellar, who has been battling a flu and was expected to watch tonight’s game from the bench to recover after the over-time victory on Friday night, was able to get on the field in the second half, bringing the Beacons back to eleven players on the field. For NCC, the even numbers didn’t help the cause as they were outplayed over the final 45 minutes, and out-shot 10-2. Evergreen found the back of the net three more times in the frame, closing out the game by scoring with just four seconds remaining. For that score, reserve Forward Jacob Sanford found the feet of reserve Midfielder Wesley Magyar, who scored from ten yards out. Northwest Christian slips to 1-9 overall and 1-6 in the Cascade Conference. Evergreen improves to 3-6-1 on the season and 2-4-1 in CCC action. |
