PORTLAND, Oregon - One thing that Head Coach John Purtteman can say about his Men's Soccer Team this season is that they are going to be a team to watch out for in future years. While this team may be on the bottom of the conference standings, they have never been a team to take lightly by their opponents. At tonights game, Warner Pacific College placed their chance of a Region I playoff spot in jeopardy by doing just that.

The game ended in a 2-2 score following double overtimes. Ranked fourth in the conference, the Knights needed to win by two or more goals for the Longo Rating not to go down because of the Geoducks classification in the point system.

In tonights match Evergreen jumped on the scoreboard in the sixth minute of action when Kyle Andrews turned James Pratt's pass into a goal. It was the third goal of the season for Andrews.

The Geoducks second goal happened just after the break to take a 2-0 lead when Ryan Mulnick scored unassisted. The Knights battled back scoring goals in the 55th & 83rd minutes of the match, locking the score at 2-2. The Knights goals were scored by JB Cunha and Chris Price.

Both teams battled hard in the two overtimes but could not make the shots count.

The Knights out shot the Geoducks 46 to 24 for the match several of which were excellent attempts that just missed the mark and others that were stopped by some great plays by Evergreen goalie Justin Kobbe. Kobbe filled in for Nick Tasche who is nursing a shoulder.

Evergreen and coach Purtteman have a young team to build a solid program around. John has made some bold coaching moves to keep his team together. Perhaps the players themselves are realizing that their potential success depends on team play and not with individuals.

The Geoducks will play their final game of the season Saturday in Olympia when Corban College comes to town. Corban is ranked third in the Cascade Conference. Game time will be 1:00 PM.

Evergreen's record stands at 3-7-1 in the Conference and 4-11-2 overall.
