Men's soccer wins on the road against conference rival Albertson

September 22, 2006

CALDWELL , Idaho - Evergreen shut out the Yotes of Albertson College 2-0 in Friday's match. It was the second Cascade Conference win for the Geoducks who now stand at 2-1-0 in conference play.

The first half went scoreless as Evergreen was on the defensive the majority of the first forty-five minutes. It was again another physical match, with both teams eventually tallying 51 fouls and seven cards during the game.

Evergreen was the first to score, with the point happening less than two minutes into the second half. Eduardo Milan crossed the ball into the Yotes goal box allowing James Pratt to tap the ball into the net. Just six minutes later Matt Curry passed the ball into a heavily guarded net with Sean Grisham in position to pound the ball in for the score.

The two shots were the only shots on goal that Evergreen had in the second half. It was enough to win as Albertson struggled to make their shots count. They took plenty compared to Evergreen, including 10 one-on-one shots that were either wide or saved by Evergreen keeper Nick Tasche. Evergreen racked up 31 fouls in the second half, six yellow cards and a red card issued to keeper Nick Tasche in the final seconds.

With Tasche out of the game Albertson had their best chance to put a point on the board, but the penalty kick following the red card was saved by substitute keeper Justin Kobbe.

Evergreen will next play at home hosting Cascade College on Thursday, September 28 th at 4:00 PM.
