September 21, 2005 KIRKLAND, Wash. -- An overtime goal from Trevor Jacka propelled The Evergreen State College men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Northwest University in their first Cascade Collegiate Conference match of the season. The goal was the third of the year for Jacka making him the team's leading goal-scorer for the season. Northwest jumped to an early lead when Ryan Vander Pol caught the Geoduck defense off-guard in the game's third minute. But Gregory Preciado got Evergreen back in the match after half-time. The senior midfielder scored his first goal of the season with about twenty minutes to go in the game. The scored stayed knotted until the end of regulation and through the first overtime period. Jacka struck the game-winner with four minutes to go in the contest to move Evergreen to 6-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. Northwest falls to 2-5 on the season and 0-1 in the conference. Evergreen returns home Friday for a pivotal match against Albertson College at 5:00 p.m. |
