Contact: Erik Snyder (360) 867-6537 November 4, 2005 OLYMPIA, Wash.—Junior defender James McDonnell and freshman midfielder Ryan Dey were named to the Cascade Collegiate Conference All-Conference team to headline six selections for the Evergreen Geoducks men's soccer team. The Geoducks are the defending NAIA Region I champions and are playing in the regional tournament tonight against Concordia University. McDonnell anchored a defense that allowed only 17 goals this season to best the conference in goals allowed and goal against average. Ryan Dey was a prized recruit for the Geoducks who lived up to his billing. Despite being statistically unimposing—Dey recorded only one goal and no assists—the Graham, WA native impressed conference coaches enough with his intangible qualities to be named to the first team as a freshman. Four other Geoducks were named to the second team including senior goalkeeper Sean Oliver. Oliver led the conference in goals against average (1.01) and save percentage (.794) allowing just 14 goals in 16 games. Senior midfielder Greg Preciado was named to the team for the second consecutive season. The Walla Walla Community College transfer recorded seven assists in 18 games, second-highest in the league. Junior forward Trevor Jacka also garnered second-team honors in his first season with the Geoducks. Jacka transferred from Pacific Lutheran University this fall to lead Evergreen in scoring. Jacka tallied 10 goals tying him for fourth place in the conference with Concordia's Luis Garcia for goals scored. Sophomore defender Dan Jones also was named to the league's second team. The Olympia native started only nine games this season but impressed conference coaches enough in league play to garner the honor for the second consecutive season.
