PORTLAND, Ore. -- In a back and forth conference match, the Evergreen State College men's soccer team topped the Knights of Warner Pacific 3-2 on Saturday to improve to 5-1 in conference play and move into a first-place tie with Concordia University who was upset at home by Albertson College.

Evergreen fell behind on the road in the 14th minute of the match when Knight forward Chris Price took a J.B. Cunha free kick and beat Goeduck goalkeeper Sean Oliver with a header for his first goal of the match.

But James McDonald didn't let the Knights enjoy the lead for long as the defender struck just four minutes later off a Jordan Saxman assist.

The Geoducks looked to take a 2-1 lead into half time when Jonathan Willoughby tallied his second goal of the season with six minutes to play in the period. But Price scored again for Warner Pacific with less than a minute remaining in the half to send the teams off the field knotted at 2-2.

When play resumed, Willoughby and the Geoducks had a fast start as the freshman tallied the game-winner with his second goal of the match just over three minutes into the second half off a Trevor Jacka feed.

The Geoducks were out-shot by their hosts 20-16 but had a 8-5 advantage in corner kicks.

With the win Evergreen sits at 9-2 on the year while Warner Pacific drops to 5-7-1 and 2-4 in conference play.

Evergreen continues conference play Monday as they host Northwest University at 4:00 p.m. The two teams needed overtime to decide their first match of the year a 2-1 win for Evergreen.
