October 16, 2004 SALEM, Ore. - Western Baptist erupted for three goals in the span of four minutes late in the second half to topple The Evergreen State College in Cascade Collegiate Conference men's soccer action on Saturday, 3-0. Freshman Caleb Louvier sandwiched two goals around the tally of senior Seth Burke as the Warriors (9-4-2, 5-3-2 CCC) kept their hopes of claiming an automatic berth to the NAIA Region I Tournament alive with the late offensive outburst. With the shutout, the Warrior defense also became the first team in seven games to hold forward Joe Gjertsen to fewer than two goals in a game. Gjertsen's prolific offensive production had carried the Geoducks to a first place standing in the conference. But the loss to Western Baptist put a dent in Geoduck plans to host the regional tournament as they now need a win over Albertson College coupled with losses by Concordia College to win the conference season. A loss to Albertson College coupled with a Western Baptist win over Concordia would leave the Geoducks out post-season play entirely.
