Geoducks Advance to Regional Final

November 5, 2004

PORTLAND, OR -- The Cascade Collegiate Conference is now guaranteed of sending a team to the NAIA Men's Soccer National Tournament. It won't be the league champion, though.

After 110 minutes of scoreless play on the turf at Strasser Field, Concordia University and Evergreen State were forced into a penalty-kick shootout to determine the winner of their Region I tournament semifinal match.

Evergreen keeper Tom Kneeshaw was able to make two saves in the shootout, as the Geoducks advanced to the championship game via a 4-2 PK margin.

Evergreen, the #2 seed in the event, will face fourth-seeded Warner Pacific Saturday night at 9:00 for the regional crown and a national tournament berth. The Knights surprised #1 seed Simon Fraser 1-0 in Friday's opening match, as Trevor Tharp's goal in the 61st minute proved to be the difference.
