Olympia, WA--The Evergreen State College men's soccer team moved to 6-3 on the season as it throttled the overwhelmed Northwest College Eagles today at Evergreen. The forward tandem of Nathan Ford and Joe Gjertsen combined for 23 shots and five goals as Gjertsen recorded his second hat trick in two games.

Evergreen dominated the Eagles from the start as Gjertsen recorded the Geoducks' fastest goal of the season when he scored 46 seconds into the match. Gjertsen scored off the dribble again in the 15th minute to add to the lead. Two minutes later Evergreen goalkeeper Tom Kneeshaw contributed his first point of the season when his long pass set up Gjertsen's hat trick.

It was Ford who then got into the scoring column when he took pass from Jason Gjertsen and dribbled around the Eagles goalkeeper to open a 4-0 lead 21 minutes in, and Ford again in the 80th minute to round out the Geoduck scoring barrage when he finished from close range.

The Eagles avoided the shutout when Chris Chapman scored off a thrown in heading past Kneeshaw just minutes before the half.

Evergreen recorded 35 shots on the day to Northwest's 13. Evergreen goalkeepers combined for six saves on the day. Northwest had 10.
