Olympia, WA -- The Evergreen State College men's soccer team continued its scoring ways in an eight goal pasting of visiting Cascade College. Six different Geoducks got on the board at Evergreen improves to 8-4 on the year and 6-2 in conference play. The Geoducks are currently tied for first place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference with rivals Albertson College of Idaho and Concordia University.

Leading just 1-0 at halftime on a 38th minute goal by Nathan Ford, Evergreen exploded for seven second half goals. The first came under two minutes into the half as Jason Gjertsen took a pass from Ford and beat Thunderbird goalkeeper Tim Owen. Cascade held Evergreen at bay for another 20 minutes before the Geoducks scored three goals in three minutes as conference scoring leader Joe Gjertsen scored two goals in the 64th and 65th minutes followed by a James McDonnell strike in the 66th.

Five minutes later Alex Swanson scored for Evergreen from the penalty spot. Tom Arndt got into the action putting in a Kyle Andrews corner kick in the 76th minute. Nathan Ford rounded out the scoring with his second goal of the day as he dribbled through the Cascade defense and beat Owen with a shot.

With the loss Cascade drops to 0-8 in conference play and 1-9-1 for the year. Evergreen plays its next three games on the road beginning with an important match against Warner Pacific on October 14th. Cascade moves on to face Concordia on October 12th.
