Portland, OR -- Evergreen State's blazing fast duo of of Jason Gjertsen and Nathan Ford ran through the T-Bird defense to secure a 5-0 Cascade Conference win over Cascade College.

Both squads seemed to have trouble with the wet, slippery condidtions as neither team found a rhythm on a rainy afternoon at Williams & Smith Field.

Evergreen's first goal came 16 minutes in as Thomas Arndt found a fortunate deflection 10 yards out and shot it past a diving Graham Kovarik. From there the speed of the Geoducks took over as Nathan Ford found the net once in the first half and 2 more times in the second thanks to superb passes from Jason Gjertsen.

The final goal came off a well placed corner and headed in nicely by Jeff Wruck past Cascade's Tim Owen. The visitors outshot the host T-Birds 18-4. Cascade keeper Graham Kovarik collected 4 saves before being replaced due to a knee injury.

Evergreen’s next match will be at conference rival Concordia University September 18th at 3:00 pm.
