Evergreen Continues To Struggle Against Lutes

September 7, 2001

Evergreen loses ninth in a row to PLU

TACOMA, Wash. - The Geoducks and Lutes took the field together for the first time since 1997 and the result was all too familiar. Evergreen lost the game 3-0. Evergreen (1-2) has not beaten PLU (1-1) since 1989.

In a game that had more fouls between the two teams (25) than it had shots taken (20) the Geoducks struggled to put up an offensive attack. The Evergreen men only took six shots, three in each half. Evergreen goalie Tom Kneeshaw (Eatonville, Wash./Eatonville HS) made six save on 14 attempts.

PLU scored in the first half off of a Ryan Cordova goal with an assist by Scott McVicker. In the second half the Lutes continued to control the game and added two more goals.

Evergreen will try to break a two game losing streak against Humbolt St. a NCAA Div. II opponent on Sunday at 12:00 noon. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Portland, Ore., but will now be hosted by Evergreen.
