SEPTEMBER 16, 2001 Geoducks down Walla Walla 5-0 Olympia, Wash. - Evergreen came out firing from the opening kick and never looked back. For the first time this season the Geoducks showed what kind of offensive strength they posses. Evergreen (2-3, 1-0) was in control of the game from the very start. For most of the game the ball was in the Wolves zone. Walla Walla (0-3) managed only 4 shots during the game as they could not handle the Geoduck pressure. Junior Brian Cook (Cape Girardeau, Mo./ Skagit Valley CC) applied most of that pressure. Cook scored the hat trick (3 goals) for Evergreen, all of his goals were unassisted usually off of break-aways. Evergreen never let the Wolves have any opportunities for hope, from start to finish the Geoducks dominated the game. Justin Connell (Sequim, Wash./ Sequim HS) and Nick Valentine (Steilacoom, Wash./ Tacoma CC) each added an unassisted goal in the Evergreen victory. Evergreen will try to extend their winning streak on Tuesday when they head to Kirkland to face Northwest College at 7:00 p.m. Goals by period 1 2 Tot ------------------------------- Walla Walla......... 0 0 - 0 Evergreen..... ...... 3 2 - 5 SCORING SUMMARY: 1. 4:55 Evergreen Justin Connell (3) (unassisted) - shot off of rebound 2. 15:56 Evergreen Brian Cook (2) (unassisted) - breakaway goal shot through keepers legs 3. 19:53 Evergreen Brian Cook (3) (unassisted) - long run in open field fired from left 4. 58:14 Evergreen Brian Cook (4) (unassisted) - alone after long run, shot in far corner 5. 66:23 Evergreen Nick Valentine (2) (unassisted) - breakaway, alone on the left side Shots: Walla Walla 4, Evergreen 25 Saves: Walla Walla 11 (Travis Giarde 11), Evergreen 4 (Tom Kneeshaw 4) Corner Kicks: Walla Walla 5, Evergreen 4 Fouls: Walla Walla 5, Evergreen 19 |
