Cascade tops Evergreen 1-0

OLYMPIA, Wash. - Evergreen finished the game with a flurry of attempts on goal, but to no avail, Cascade held on to the slim 1-0 lead for the win.

The Geoducks (3-9, 1-6) battled back and forth with the Thunderbirds (5-4, 3-3) for some sort of advantage in the game. In the first half, both teams had scoring opportunities, but neither team could convert them. The only score in the game came with 15 minutes gone by in the second half. After the goal, Evergreen continued to focus their efforts on attacking the net. Most of the Geoducks shots were from close range, but just missed being on goal.

With only two minutes to go in the game, the Geoducks had two corner kicks. These two kicks were placed almost perfectly in front of the goal, ready to be headed in for the tie, but Cascade goalkeeper Jeff Plummer came out and defended both of them flawlessly.

The Geoducks defense played one of their better games of the season, allowing only 9 shots on goal, but the offense did not come through for Evergreen.

Evergreen will take the field again on Friday in Idaho, as they take on Albertson College. The game will begin at 4:00 p.m.
