Rough start sends Geoduck men into a third place tie with Warner Pacific, 85-76
OLYMPIA, Wash. -- The Evergreen State College put 52 points on the board during the second half, but it wasn't enough to overcome a cold-shooting first half and the Geoducks fell, 85-76, to visiting Warner Pacific College on Friday night at the Greenhouse.
Evergreen (17-9, 10-5 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference) made only seven of 25 shots during the opening period and Warner (18-7, 10-5) jumped out to a 37-24 halftime lead. Evergreen got the margin down to single digits as the clock wore down, but couldn't get even. The teams are now tied for third in the CCC behind Oregon Tech and Eastern Oregon, who each have three losses in league.
The Geoducks' Nate Menefee led the game in scoring with 25 and also had four assists, but Warner's array of five double-figure scorers carried the day: Jake Glisson led the way with 20, Webster Moreland scored 17, Kaylone Riley 14 to go with a game high eight rebounds, Jared Mace 13 and Reggie Guyton 13. Josh Troyer had 12 points and Jemier Dodd 11 for Evergreen, which hosts Concordia University at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in its annual Senior Night game.
Julio Feliciano, Anthony Gallagher, Scott Halasz, Amos Saffold and Menefee will be the honorees.
