LEWISTON, Idaho - Evergreen's Menefee has 31 points and leads the Geoducks to a 97-76 win at the Lewis & Clark State College Cannon's Building Materials Tournament tonight in Lewiston, Idaho.
In Saturday editition of the tournament's first game, Evergreen defeated the University of Great Falls 97-76 to join the Rangers at 2-0 in the tournament, while the two Frontier Conference teams, LCSC and Great Falls, both went 0-2.
Evergreen State's Nick Moore was named MVP of the tournament and was joined on the all-tournament team by teammate Nathan Menefee.
Moore scored 17 points tonight and 44 points in two tourney games.
It was a big night for Evergreen in numbers, with the team scoring a season high 20 assists and 13 steals and four players scoring in the double digits.
Nathan Menefee had better luck with clear shots at the basket to total 31 points, tying his season and career high at Evergreen.
The first NAIA Div. II regular season ratings begin this week. The new top 25 will be announced Tuesday afternoon. Evergreen was rated at 20th in the pre-season poll.
The Geoducks rank well in several national categories.
Menefee is #2 in points per game with a 25.8 average. The team ranks 28th in field goal percentage plus three top 4 rankings in three point percentage, free throws and three point field goals made.
Evergreen begins conference play Friday in Salem, Oregon when they take on the Beacons of Corban College (3-3). Saturday the team will be in Portland versus Concordia University.
