First half lead slips away giving Geoducks first home loss
December 1, 2007
OLYMPIA, Wash. - Evergreen led by as much as 18 points in the first half before the Cavaliers of Concordia University overtook the Geoducks for a 83-77 victory.
While the shooting game stayed in Evergreen's favor it was ball turnovers that unraveled the teams early lead. Evergreen made 49 % of their field goals compared to Concordia's 38%.
The Geoducks turned over the ball twenty-three times while the Cavaliers committed just nine of the errors.
Leading the totals for Evergreen was again Nathan Menefee (So, Timberline HS) with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Marcus Whittaker (Sr. Henryetta, GA) totaled 15 and 4 rebounds.
Concordia's Cody Aker scored 22 points for the Cavs and added 7 rebounds.
Evergreen (4-1) stands at 1-1 in the Cascade Conference and lost their four game winning streak at home. Evergreen is 8-11 in their all-time meetings with their opponent.
The Cavs are also 1-1 in the CCC and 3-3 overall.
The remainder of December the Geoducks will be on the road. Next Friday they travel to Lewiston, Idaho to play Lewis and Clark State in a non-conference NAIA game.
