OLYMPIA, Wash. - The Geoducks will go for another win tomorrow night when they host Whitman College Saturday at 7:30 PM. Evergreen won their season home opener 87-49 over Pacific University (Ore) tonight in the Green House.

Four players scored in the double digits for the Geoducks. Sophomore Nathan Menefee led the team with 16 points followed by Marcus Whittaker and Jose Feliciano with 12 each. David Howard added 10.

Pacific was led by Garold Howe with 13 points. Howe recorded 3 steals in the fast paced game that saw 48 combined turnovers by both teams. Evergreen had 21 turnovers to Pacific's 27. The boxers had 18 of those turnovers happen in the second period.

Evergreen's Michael Ward had 3 steals as the Geoducks snagged the ball eleven times from Pacific players.

The defensive play earned praise by the Evergreen coaching staff. "That was totally awesome basketball!" exclaimed assistant coach Leonard Barnes. "While we had too many turnovers in the first period, our second half was great. They (Evergreen) really fed off the intensity of our defensive play".
