Menefee on his way to a 32 point game

Nate MenefeeFebruary 5, 2008

OLYMPIA, Wash. - Evergreen had a 92-64 victory over Northwest University in the Green House tonight. Sophomore Nathan Menefee (Timberline HS) tied his season's high with a 32 point game.

The first two points of the game came 2:30 into play from Nick Moore's free throws. That set off a Evergreen point run that gave the Geoducks an eleven point lead just four and a half minutes into the game.

It felt like a case of deja vu for the spectators as three turnovers by NU's Pat Mattson resulted in three baskets for Menefee in less then two minutes. Mattson, who was a Geoduck during the 2005-06 season, had the ball stripped by Menefee and the guard converted on fast breaks following his steals.

By halftime Evergreen had a 47-19 lead and Menefee already had 21 points.

Four other ESC players had double digit games. Michael Ward (Jr. Kansas City, MO) had 14 points, Moore (Jr. Bethel High School) had 13, John Levi II (Jr Wilson High School) had 11 and Marcus Whittaker (Sr. Henryetta, OK) tallied 10 points.

Northwest (11-13, 7-8 CCC) was led by Pat Mattson's 13 points, Derek Miller and Lucas Ashe each had 10 points, with Ashe making 2 of 2 from three point range.

Evergreen (16-5, 11-4 CCC) hosts Northwest Christian (9-15, 6-8 CCC) in Olympia Saturday night
