Evergreen's lead slips away in the final game minutes |

December 29, 2006 CALDWELL, Idaho - Albertson College used a 38-9 second half run to blow open a tight game, sprinting past Evergreen State, 111-87, tonight in the J.A. Albertson Activities Center. With the win, the No. 13 ranked Coyotes (10-1, 4-0 CCC) pulled into a first-place tie with Warner Pacific atop the Cascade Conference standings. After 15 ties and 16 lead changes, Devon Connor-Green gave the Geoducks (6-8, 2-3) a 62-60 lead with a lay-up with 13:10 remaining. However, back-to-back Brandon Nielsen lay-ups gave the Yotes the lead for good, starting a string of 14-straight points for ACI. Evergreen was led by Adam Moore, who scored a game-high 32 points and nine rebounds. It was the third 30-plus point game of the season for the junior transfer. However, the Geoducks were hurt by 24 turnovers, including 18 in the first half. Albertson was led by Josh Owen who hit four of his six three-pointers in the second half, scoring a season-high 26 points, with Ike Stafford scoring 19 points and eight rebounds. Evergreen plays Eastern Oregon University in La Grande tomorrow night. |
