Evergreen takes lead and doesn't look back in 79-66 win over SOU

OLYMPIA, Wash. -Evergreen looked in control the entire game as they won a Cascade Conference game with the Raiders of Southern Oregon University.Adam Moore was back on top for Evergreen scorers with 29 points in the game.
Seven minutes into the first half, the Geoducks were tied 7-7 with the Raiders. Evergreencontrolled the game for the remainder of the first period, leading by six points at the and a score of 36-30 at intermission.
The shootingin the gamewas not exceptional in the first half. Evergreen made 51 percent of their field goal attempts while SOU hovered around 43 percent.
The frustrated visiting teamwas often thwarted by a strong Evergreen defense. "We are getting stronger as a defensive team" observed Evergreen coach Tom Kenna following the game. Evergreen was strong under thegoal with 29 defensive rebounds in the game with Devon Connor-Green and David Howard were responsible for 7 each. Howard was credited with 2 blocked shots in the game to add to the total of 4 blocks for the team.
Second half woes worsened for the Raiders, with the team making just 10 of 26 field goal attempts to the Geoducks 14 of 22. Chuck Ivey played a hard game for SOU, netting 23 game points. His teammate Erion Moore scored 15. The Raiders recordchangesto 8-5 this season.
Evergreen kept the outside shooting to a minimum, taking only 3 attempts from the arch and using the taller players like Moore for points from inside the key. Howard and Connor-Green added 16 and 13 points respectively and Howard earning the games only double-double of the game with his point total combined with 10 total rebounds.
Evergreen is now 6-6 this season, with a Cascade Conference record of 2-1. Tomorrow night they host the NAIA Division II number two ranked Oregon Institute of Technology at 7:30 following the women's game.
