Kamiaks Marere signs with Evergreen

OLYMPIA , Wash. -Evergreen basketball coach Tom Kenna today announced that Kamiak senior Rahiti Marere has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at The Evergreen State College.
The 6'6" guard/forward averaged 11.8 points, 8.6 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game in his senior season with the Fightin' Knights.
Said coach Kenna, "We are very fortunate to be able to add Rahiti to our recruiting class. He comes from a great family, is a good person, and is a very competitive basketball player."
Marere was picked to the Wesco first team in 2005-06 and was named the Dennis Myers "Sportsman of the Year". A team captain at Kamiak, Marere was named the team's most valuable player as he led the Fightin' Knights to a 12-8 record.
"Rahiti is a true all-around player," said Kenna. "He is able to score in side with a variety of post moves and he is can shoot the three at a very high percentage."
Marere is the second high school senior in Kenna's first recruiting class at Evergreen. He joins a team that was rated first in the nation in scoring defense last season.
