Men's Basketball vs Lewis-Clark State 2004 at home
November 19, 2004
OLYMPIA, WA -- Lewis-Clark State College turned in a sterling performance as the Warriors downed the Evergreen Geoducks 70-43 tonight at The Evergreen State College.
The Geoducks created several open looks in the first five minutes of the contest as they reversed the ball over the Warrior defense. But Evergreen could not convert on their opportunities and the Warriors quickly opened a double-digit lead.
Lewis-Clark used a deadly inside-out combination to overwhelm the Geoducks. Martin Brothers went six for seven on the night including several layups to take 17 points home, while guard went three for four from three point land to tally 13. James Idoko contributed 12 points and ten rebounds in a dominating inside performance. For the night the Warriors shot at just under sixty percent from the field.
While the Warriors were overwhelming Evergreen's usually stingy defense, the Geoducks continued to search for a scoring touch. Shooting at just over twenty percent for most of the first half, only Giovanne Woods converted more than one attempt in the period. Woods led the Geoducks at intermission with seven points, but went scoreless from the field in the second half.
Walter Tucker scored six points late in the second half with several strong moves to the hoop to put the final margin back under 30 points. Tucker finished with eight points on four for five shooting. Josh Peterson and Woods also finished the night with eight points while Durriell Jones had seven.
Evergreen will attempt to regroup as they host Cal-Baptist Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
