PLU Comes From Behind to Beat Evergreen, 79-74

TACOMA, WA -- For thirty minutes on Tuesday evening, the Geoducks (1-4) looked like a whole new team, a team that deserved to win.
Evergreen hugged a 15 point lead midway through the second half, over the Pacific Lutheran Lutes (2-1). The Lutes then went on a run, out-shooting the Geoducks, a finishing the game with a five point victory, 79-74.
Led by the outstanding play of Jonathan Anderson, the Lutes shot 64% from the field in the second half, compared to Evergreen's 36%. Anderson was two assists shy of a triple-double with 20 points (8-17), 10 rebounds, and 8 assists.
The Lutes Neil Mendez also scored 20 points on 9-15 shooting and grabbed 6 rebounds, and Kaleen Moore contributed 14 points for PLU in the win. Evergreen's Mike Parker (Washington DC / Clover Park HS) had a game high 22 points (8-12)and tore down 12 rebounds. Parker also had 4 assists, 4 steals, and 3 blocks.
Adam Laneer (Tumwater, Wash. / Tumwater HS) was the only other Geoduck to score in double figures. He ended the game with 10 points on 4-11 shooting.
"It's one of those games we have to put behind us," said Evergreen Head Coach John Barbee, "right now, the most important thing that matters is how we bounce back."
The Geoducks will travel to Lewiston, Idaho this weekend to play in the KOZE Clearwater Tournament. Evergreen will face Montana State Northern on Friday evening at 5:30 p.m., and will play Lewis-Clark State College the following night at 7:30.
