OLYMPIA, Wash. - Brian Rakestraw will represent the green and white in Kenosha, Wisconsin at the 53rd Annual NAIA Cross Country Championships on November 22nd. It will be the first trip to nationals for the two-time All-Conference runner from Woodinville, WA.
Rakestraw placed 12th overall and qualified as the third individual not on a qualifying team at the Cascade Conference Championships last Saturday in W. Seattle. The conference will send 5 individuals and 3 teams to the event.
On Oct. 25th Rakestraw ran a personal and Geoduck best 8 kilometer (4.97 miles) of 25:00 (5:01 per mile pace) at the Beaver Cross Country Classic in Corvallis, OR. He posts the 5th fastest 8k time in the conference.
The men's team finished 7th in the Conference this season.
Senior Eric Jones was named to the Cascade Conference All-Academic Team this week for his excellence in the classroom and in athletics. Jones placed 27th in the conference championships, his best placing yet.
Evergreen's best individual finish at the national championships was 220th place by Josh Klimek in 2005.
