Men's Cross Country News

February 12, 2008

OLYMPIA, Wash. - Shelton High School distance standout, Daniel Paine, has signed his Letter of Intent for the 2008-09 school year at Evergreen.

Paine had a strong '07 track and field season, with personal bests of 4:40.9 in the 1600 and 10:00 in the 3200 meters, but it was during the '07 cross country season where Paine really took off. He tallied ten top-three finishes in cross country meets and capped off the season with a 7th overall (16:22, 3.1 miles) at the 3A State Championships, an improvement of 26 places on his '06 finish.

It was a finish that ranked Paine 23rd among all division runners in the state. Paine was selected to compete in the Washington Vs. Oregon BorderClash meet and participated in the US Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships in Lawrence, KS in December.

"Daniel is known by his peers and coach as a hard worker. He is improving methodically, which is a great formula for college success", observes coach Dickson. "I'm thrilled that Daniel decided that Evergreen is the place he wants to continue his education".

Paine plans to study Environmental Sciences while at Evergreen.
