OLYMPIA, Wash. - Head coach Craig Dickson announced the signing of South Kitsap High School Senior, Britta Peterson, to the women's cross country team beginning the 2008-09 school year. Peterson's 22nd placing in the competitive Narrows League Championships made her the lone qualifier for the 4A State Championships from her team this past fall. She finished 51st overall (20:27, 3.1 miles) in Pasco, WA and 106th of 623 in the all-division combined results. Dickson is impressed with Peterson. "Britta will be a wonderful addition to the team. She is a competitor with a wide range of ability, academically strong and a great person". In track and field, Peterson will focus on the 3200 meters her final high school season and hopes to qualify for the state championships in that event. In '07, Peterson had two wins at that distance and a win in the 2000 meter steeplechase. An honors student at SKHS, Peterson's academic focus will be Environmental Studies while attending Evergreen. |
