Eric Jones

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced 298 men's and women's cross country runners have been named 2007 Daktronics-NAIA Cross Country Scholar-Athletes. A total of 100 schools represented this season led by St. Ambrose ( Iowa ) and Westmont ( Calif. ) with 10 selections each.

Eric Jones (Vancouver, WA), a junior team member, was among the 108 men to earn the award. Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) and have achieved junior academic status to qualify.

Eight other men from Cascade Conference institutions received the honor in addition to Jones.

Jones has been a varsity team member since transferring to Evergreen from Western Washington University in 2006. At the recent NAIA Region I Cross Country Championships, Jones finished 57th overall and second on the team.

A full list of honorees can be viewed at the NAIA website.
