November 12, 2004 OLYMPIA, WA- Geoduck cross-country star Josh Klimek will head to Louisville, KY November 20th to become the first runner ever from The Evergreen State College to run in the NAIA National Championship Cross Country Meet. Klimek, a junior from Centralia, earned the ticket to the National Championships by being one of the top five individuals not on a qualifying team (he was 4th) in the Region I Championships on November 6th. Klimek ran a 26:28-his fastest eight kilometer time of the year-to earn himself All-Conference honors and the trip to Louisville. "He ran a gutsy race from the gun," said Evergreen cross
country coach Craig Dickson, himself a competitor at Nationals in 1986-88
for Adams State College. "It came down to the final 100 meters.
Josh passed four other competitors fighting for National spots." |
