Evergreen Competes in First Meet of the Season; Captain Keith Darrock Leads all Geoduck Runners |

September 27, 2002 by Craig Dickson OLYMPIA, WA -- The Evergreen State College Cross Country team competed in their first meet of the season at Lower Woodland Park in Seattle. The women's race was won by Laura Hodgson (University of Washington). Evergreen entered only four runners, led by captain Shawn Olson (Bellingham, WA) in 81st place, Clara Householder (Mound, MN/Mound Westonka H.S.) in 88th, Drew Gaede (Ft. Collins, CO/Poudre H.S.) 103rd, and Rene Quenneville (Vashon, WA/Happy Valley H.S.) in 105th. The men's race, won by UW's Todd Arnold, as the Geoducks finish 8th in the team standings. Captain Keith Darrock (Yachats, OR/Waldport H.S.) finished in an excellent 26th place. Freshman took the next three team places. Josh Klimeck (Centralia, WA/Centralia H.S.) placed 43rd, Nathan Chambers (Tumwater, WA/Tumwater H.S.) crossed in 53rd and John Each (Minneapolis, MN/Apple Valley H.S.) finished 58th. Capital High School graduate ('01) Kent Uglick rounded out the top five in 69th place. |
