Coach Dickson has been actively involved in long distance running for over twenty years as both athlete and coach.

Originally from Colorado, he attended Adams State College between 1985 and 1989. Under his coach and mentor, Joe Vigil, he earned All-American status eight times in cross Country and track and won the NAIA Cross Country Championships individual title in 1988.

After college, Dickson competed in U.S. Championship events in Road Racing, Track and Field and Cross Country. He was a long-time member of the Reebok Racing national team, has been a member of U.S. Cross Country and Half Marathon teams and competed in the World Championships in those events. In 2000 he qualified for and competed in the US Olympic Marathon trials.

He began his coaching career at St. Martin's College in 1996 as an assistant to the Men's and Women's Cross Country teams before taking over the head position at Evergreen.

Since 2001, the Cross Country Team has produced NAIA Scholar-Athlete All-Americans four times, four National Championship qualifiers, and six All-Conference honor winners.
