When will my application for

March 1 |
| Winter Quarter |
April 1 |
until |
October 1 |
| Spring Quarter |
June 1 |
until |
December 1 |
Your application for admission will be accepted in the time period noted
in the table above.
The Priority Date is generally the last date that you may submit an on-time
application. If you submit an application before or on the priority date,
you can expect timely notification from the Office of Admissions. When
you are formally admitted, you can also expect timely notification about financial aid and scholarship awards—if
you've submitted separate applications for these sources of aid. You cannot
receive a financial aid or scholarship award if you have not been admitted
to the college. You will also receive academic
advising and registration
information, after you have been admitted, if you submit your application
for admission before or on the priority date.
top
Can I submit my
application late?
We encourage you to submit a timely application to ensure that you will
receive full admission review and to be able to receive financial aid,
scholarship and early registration consideration. Applications for undergraduate
admission that are received after the priority date will be accepted if
space remains available. Please contact Admissions at (360) 867-6170 for further information if you are
sending an application after the priority date.

What do I do after
I have completed the application?
| Freshman Applicants: |
Transfer Applicants: |
- Contact your high school and request an official transcript.
Ask to have this document sent to Evergreen.
- Take the SAT or ACT test and have the scores sent to Evergreen.
Evergreen's SAT school code is 4292; the ACT school code is 4457.
If you've taken the SAT or ACT test already, make sure that the
scores are part of the high school transcript that is sent to
Evergreen.
|
Contact each and every college and/or training institute you've
attended and request official transcripts. Ask the college/training
institute to send these transcripts to Evergreen. |
top
What
are official transcripts?
Official transcripts list the classes you took and the grades you received
on a document issued and embossed by the school where you were enrolled.
This document should be put in an envelope and sealed by the issuing school's
registrar. If this envelope is opened before reaching the Office of Admissions,
the transcript is considered unofficial. Unofficial transcripts
cannot be used in the admission process.
Sometimes applicants obtain official transcripts (in a sealed envelope)
from the issuing school's registrar. As long as you do not open the original
envelope, the document is considered to be official and you may send it
to the Office of Admissions with your application and check/money order.
top
What happens after
Evergreen receives my application?
The Office of Admissions creates a file when your application is received.
Your transcripts and test scores are also placed in this file. You may
receive a letter from a Credentials Evaluator, who works in Admissions,
requesting additional information. When all of the required documents
have been received, your file is complete and ready to be considered for
admission. This part of the process may take as few as 10 working days,
or it could take several weeks. For example, if you submit an application
on September 1 and plan to take the SAT on January 28, your application
file will not be complete until your test scores have been received.
top
When
will I know if I've been admitted?
Your application will be considered for admission if your file
is complete. For fall quarter applicants, notification letters start
to roll out of the Admissions Office after December 1. For example, if
you submit an application on September 27 and have official transcripts/test
scores sent to Admissions by November 1, it is possible that you will
receive an offer of admission in mid-December.
For winter quarter applicants, notification letters are sent after November
1. For spring quarter applicants, notification letters are sent after
January 1.

Is a
personal statement or are letters of recommendation required for admission?
Would you like to tell us more about yourself? There's more to you than
your transcripts and test scores can describe. Perhaps you've conquered
a personal challenge or overcome an adverse situation that may have affected
your academic achievements. Your essay response is strongly recommended
and should provide some explanation about your academic performance and
improvement to the Admissions Committee. Respond to this statement
(PDF) and send it to the Office of Admissions. This statement is also
included in the online application (see Question #56).
International students must submit a personal
statement (PDF) with their application. And adult students (25+ years)
who have fewer than 40 transferable college-level credits may submit a personal statement
(PDF) and a personal résumé in lieu of SAT/ACT test
scores.
Letters of Recommendation are also useful if you would like the Admissions
Committee to be aware that your special talents are well suited to studies
at Evergreen. Letters from teachers, counselors or employers who are acquainted
with your academic preparation and your ability to succeed at college
are welcomed. Please make sure that the letter of recommendation includes
the name you use on your application for admission. Letters of recommendation
are often required for the scholarship
application process.

Is an interview required
for admission?
An interview with an Admissions Counselor is not required. However, many
prospective students visit Evergreen and speak with an Admissions Counselor. This visit is not considered an
interview, but may help you decide if Evergreen is the right college choice
for you. Evergreen Admissions Counselors visit many cities across the
nation and offer interviews to prospective applicants. Go
Green lists states and cities we visit. You may find a PDF with
interview information listed by state. Meet the Counselors will help you put a face-to-the-name prior to your interview.

When do quarters begin
and end?
Evergreen's academic year consists of fall, winter and spring quarters. Each quarter includes 10 weeks of instruction, plus one week
for you to schedule your narrative evaluation conference with your faculty
member. Just as a point of reference, semesters are usually 15 weeks of
instruction, plus one week for final exams.
A table with the begin and end dates for the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 academic years can be found on the Important Dates web page.
There is also a Campus Calendar.
top
Can I apply for admission to
summer quarter?
Formal admission to summer quarter is not necessary. Anyone may register for a summer program or course.
However, if you need financial aid to pay for your tuition during the summer, you must
be formally admitted, you must enroll and you must receive financial aid
during the academic year that precedes the summer term. The academic year
starts with the fall quarter, continues through winter and spring quarters
and concludes at the end of the summer quarter (usually late August).
Then a new academic year starts again in the fall.
For more information about registering
for summer quarter, contact Registration
and Records or (360) 867-6180.

Where can I find more information
about Evergreen's Tacoma Program?
You must be an upper-division transfer student (90 quarter-hour credits
earned) to qualify for admission consideration to the Tacoma
Program. An interview for admission is also required. The Interview
In-Take form (PDF) should be completed during your interview and you
must send it to the Office of Admissions. Upper-division students should
contact Laurie
Arnold at (253) 680-3000.
Lower-division students may enroll at Tacoma Community College and register
for the Bridge Program. For information about this partnership between
Tacoma Community College and Evergreen's Tacoma Program, please call (253)
680-3022.
Applications for admission to the Tacoma Program are typically accepted
well past the application priority dates for the Olympia Campus. For example, if you are submitting an application
for Spring Quarter 2008 and it is after December 1, 2007, or if you are
submitting an application for Fall Quarter 2008 and it is after March
1, 2008, you may wish to call the Office
of Admissions at (360) 867-6170 to make sure that
applications are still being accepted for the Tacoma Program. Since applications
for Tacoma are monitored closely, the online application may be deactivated
without notice when the enrollment limit has been met.

Interested in Evergreen's Tribal:
Reservation-Based/Community Determined program? You must be an upper-division
transfer students (90 quarter-hour credits earned) to qualify for admission
consideration to the Tribal Program. An interview for admission is also
required. The Interview
In-Take form (PDF) should be completed during your interview and you

Lower-division students should contact the program's co-directors for
registration information. Michelle
Aguilar-Wells and Jeff
Antonelis-Lapp are the co-directors and can answer questions about
the lower- and upper-division program. You may also leave a message for
either co-director at (360) 867-6286. Michelle Aguilar-Wells
and Jeff Antonelis-Lapp welcome your email inquiries.
Applications for admission to the Tribal Program are typically accepted
well past the application priority dates for the Olympia Campus. For example, if you are submitting an application for Spring Quarter 2008 and it is after December 1, 2007, or if you are submitting an application for Fall Quarter 2008 and it is after March 1, 2008, you may wish to call the Office

An afterword from Admissions
Evergreen may not be able to offer admission to all qualified applicants
if the number of applicants exceeds the number of enrollment spaces available
in the entering class.
The college reserves the right to deny the applicant admission if his
or her enrollment could present a physical danger to the campus community.
Once the college notifies you of your eligibility, you will be asked
to send a nonrefundable advance tuition deposit of $50 (US) by a stated
deadline to assure your place at the college for the quarter of admission.
This deposit is an admissions processing fee that will be credited toward
the first quarter's tuition. Admission and deposit do not guarantee your
enrollment in a particular program or course.
