Grants for Alumni

Grant Application Guidelines

Purpose

The Alumni Association wishes to support Evergreen alumni by providing resources for non-tuition related career or life enhancement activities. Examples include, but are not limited to: small business start-up, event participation related to a small business, attending an award ceremony, speaking engagement activities, starting a non-profit organization, attending a tournament or conference.

Amount of Grant

Each year, based on their projected budget, the Alumni Association will set aside funds for these grants. The size of any one grant will not exceed ¼ of the total budget or $500 - whichever is less. The Alumni Association also reserves the right to award amounts less than that requested by the applicant and to make portions of any grant contingent upon matching funds. It is our policy to direct all awarded funds to an entity -- such as an organization or vendor -- rather than personally to the recipient.

Criteria

  • The applicant is an Evergreen alumnus/alumna
  • Alumnus/Alumna directly and personally benefits
  • The activity is legal
  • Consistent with mission and values of Evergreen and the Alumni Association
  • Reflects positively on Evergreen and the Alumni Association
  • The applicant has not received another grant from the Evergreen Alumni Association during that fiscal year (July 1 to June 30)
  • Falls within the scope of the purpose statement
  • Meets the nondiscrimination policy
  • Project includes a budget document (total budget may exceed the amount requested from the Evergreen alumni Association.
    Please note that the committee or the board has the discretion to request more information and may postpone the award decision to the next granting cycle.

  • Description of the activity for which you're seeking the grant. (100 words or less)
  • How do you directly benefit from this grant? (100 words or less)
  • How does the activity meet the purpose of the grants program? (100 words or less)
  • How does this activity reflect positively upon Evergreen and the Alumni Association? (100 words or less)
  • Three reference names and contact information - address, phone and email
  • Written documentation for the activity or organization (e.g. business plan, business license, incorporation papers, brochure, flyer, Web site, letter). This information may be used to verify the activity
  • Project budget
