Description of business, organization, invention
We are a worker-owned, cooperatively-run, radical, new and used bookstore centered in Olympia's downtown. For the past few years we have been selling discards and donations for the Friends of the Evergreen Library through a partnership that has proved mutually beneficial to all parties and the local economy! Founded in 2002 by a group of sophomore Greeners, we now have a volunteer program which many students make use of to get in-store credit, and we have co-sponsored over a dozen independent contracts with Evergreen students and faculty.
"Books are a gateway drug. It starts out innocent, reading C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, pretty soon you are reading harder stuff like Kerouac and Burroughs, the next thing you know you're strung out on Bukowski and DeSade, worrying about the Patriot Act and Free Speech, and joining the ACLU. If books are your drug of choice, Last Word has your fix!"
