Dylan Quirt '01
As an undergraduate at Evergreen, Dylan Quirt focused on media arts studies. Now, he is making a name for himself as a film editor in the movie industry.
After earning his bachelor’s degree, Quirt made a beeline for Hollywood, where he secured work as an apprentice music editor on the 2001 Ridley Scott action film, Black Hawk Down, as well as on the crews of several TV sitcoms.
Since then, he has racked up numerous motion picture credits, including 2011’s The Green Hornet, which topped the U.S. movie charts in its first week of release. He was post-production assistant for four movies, including the blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl; apprentice editor for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest; assistant editor for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and the 2009 digital 3-D film Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour, which grossed $29 million in box office receipts during its opening weekend. Other recent work includes the comedies, Bedtime Stories, starring Adam Sandler and The Spy Next Door with Jackie Chan.
Quirt applauds the wealth of media resources made available to Greeners by the college, including production facilities, equipment, staff support and instruction. “If you want to do something, you can do it at Evergreen. If you want to write, if you want to produce, if you want to direct, do it.”
