Doug ScrimaDoug Scrima
(360) 867-6170

Doug Scrima is the Director of Admissions and "Mr. Evergreen." He has been a very active member in the Evergreen community since 1975—as student, faculty and admissions representative. Prospective students and their parents who meet with Doug find him to be genuinely enthusiastic: "It's super to be part of an effort that assists new students and parents who are going through that daunting college search process and with discovering just how great Evergreen is."

Pictured here with his buddy, Tucker, Doug has many interests: Dylan, the Beatles, hiking and coaching fast-pitch softball. If you want to impress Doug ask about his vinyl collection or about Washington trails to hike.

Randy Corradine

Randy Corradine
(360) 867-6179

"I'm interested in helping first generation high school students get into college," says Randy. He learned about Evergreen from his mentor and visited the campus a couple of times, meeting with First Peoples Advising Services, before submitting his application. Randy knows first-hand the challenges first generation college students face and realizes that a helping hand and reassurance can go a long way toward having a successful educational experience. He is also very dedicated to his sisters and brother—remaining involved in their lives so that they will succeed in school and college, too.

Hitting the gym and the basketball court are personal pursuits that Randy enjoys. He's shown here with a few of his favorite books—American literature and western philosophy. After he graduated from Evergreen in 2004, Randy was one of fifty students of color who were invited to attend a seminar at Rutgers University. The week-long seminar focused on minority students in doctoral programs in philosophy.

Clarisse Leong
Clarisse K. Leong

(360) 867-6495

Clarisse came to Evergreen in 1990 as a freshman from Hawaii and graduated in 1994. She's a "pure Greener." She coordinates student of color recruitment as well as recruiting in Hawaii and Texas. "I love talking about Evergreen because of the faculty, staff and lifelong friendships I have made here." In addition to admissions counseling, Clarisse coordinates admissions events. "We have a great time at our events, I hope to see you at one!"

During her free time she enjoys retail therapy and traveling around the world. "My passport still has room!

Jessica Richardson
Jessica Richardson

(360) 867-6177

Born and raised in the Olympia-area, Jessica enjoys everything about life in the Pacific Northwest. She has a wide variety of interests: playing coed slow-pitch softball, wakeboarding, knitting, watching sports and going to live concerts—"the Alice in Chains and Velvet Revolver show at the Gorge was amazing!" Relaxing with friends and family also rate high on her favorites list.

As the Student Visitor Program Coordinator, Jessica will help you schedule your awesome Evergreen visit. "I'm eager for you to have an Evergreen experience. You will come away with a greater understanding of Evergreen's innovative and engaging learning environment."

Jerad Sorber
Jerad Sorber

(360) 867-6295

Jerad traveled from his hometown in Gold Beach, Oregon to Pennsylvania and is now back in the Pacific Northwest. Jerad is still on the road providing advice to community college transfer students. He’s found his calling in helping students succeed. “I can change the world by helping one person at a time.”

He is an avid outdoorsman and looks for an opportunity to go salmon or trout fishing. When he’s not in travel mode, Jerad enjoys cooking—“I make a very good cheesecake”—and taking care of his Maine coon cats, Bran and Cerridwyn (Gaelic).

Julian Genette
(360) 867-6236

Julian Genette is a senior and he is an intern with the Office of Admissions. Asked to describe his Evergreen experiences, Julian says, "It's been inspiring. I would choose Evergreen again if I were a high school senior." He shares his enthusiasm with prospective students and family members during the Evergreen Information Sessions. He also responds to email questions sent to Admissions.

"I'd like to get an admissions job with American University in Paris after graduation." Not a farfetched notion since Julian lived in France before coming to Evergreen in 2004. Julian is featured with items that represent his past and his future. On the left, the painting by his brother shows the many paths Julian has traveled and possible future directions. There's a cowbell in the middle-from his grandparents who live in a small town outside of St. Moritz, Switzerland. And the shoes? He's ready to walk in style.

Emily Stennes

(360) 867-6295

Emily Stennes is a 2007 Evergreen alumna and studied Arts Management. She transferred to Evergreen after a year at a large research university in North Dakota. "Yep, I came to Evergreen sight unseen," says Emily. She was really struck by the culture and art in downtown Olympia in comparison to her previous experiences. "You should check out Black Front Gallery and the small shops in Olympia." Emily's passion is graffiti art because it is organically abstract. She's just completed her largest artwork: a 4-foot by 6-foot sculpture of her graffiti tag in papier-mâché.

Catch Emily on her travels to the New England states, New York, Pennsylvania, Oregon and Alaska.
