Evergreen faculty, staff and students chose to commemorate Veteran's Day in a surprisingly somber ceremony. Once the flags had been flown and the national anthem sung, a packed house settled in to listen as veterans shared their experience of war.

Among the featured speakers were two veterans recently returned from deployment to Iraq: Captain Forrest Horan, husband of facilities secretary Maria Horan, and Retired Lieutenant Colonel Nancy Armstrong, partner of faculty member E.J. Zita.

Paul Gallegos, special assistant to the President and a Vietnam vet, briefly shared his own experiences as emcee of the event.
