HELLO, my name is Lisa Vermillion and I'm an Evergreen graduate. During my senior year at Evergreen (2002-2003) I was enrolled as an intern for Evergreen's Photo Services. A major component for my internship was to take part in the core program called Life on Earth and produce a first-person web-based documentary essay about my experiences. You're looking at my final project. My web-page is set up as a series of vignettes about Life on Earth. Each button on the left will take you into a different story. My goal is that, by the end, you will be able to combine my vignettes and get a feeling about what it is like to be an Evergreen student. Enjoy.

LIFE ON EARTH explored the origin and evolution of life on earth by examining significant events in the history of life and the large-scale geologic changes that have occurred in earth's history. Topics included mass extinctions; the evolution of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and lithosphere; and current environmental problems related to human activities. The students were involved in labs, seminars, lectures, and field trips. In conjunction with learning biology, chemistry, geology, and math, students covered reading material from both popular and technical literature, learned about scientific reasoning and writing, and considered science in a cultural context by examining the ethical and societal implications of science.
