Although Washington has been, and is currently being hit hard by the Timber Industry, it still is home to many old growth forests and diverse ecosystems. Many people find comfort in these tranquil forests, or are fascinated by studying their richness (and some of us just love to take pictures of them). Olympia is surrounded by forests and parks which contain trails ranging from 1/2 mile to many, many miles leading deep into uncharted (sort of) territory.
